Louisville, KY- A Northern Kentucky family is in mourning after losing three of their loved ones in car crash Sunday afternoon.

Just after noon, Charles Napier, 49, was walking with his 13-month-old twin grandchildren along Weaver Road in Florence when they were struck by a motorist, the Enquirer reported.

Napier and another adult were three children in wagons, when the driver of a Chevy Malibu lost control of her car, ran up curb and slammed into the group.

Napier and the two twins were pronounced dead on the scene. The other adult and child suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

The stretch of Weaver Road where this accident occurred sees heavy foot traffic, but there is no sidewalk and the posted speed limit is 55 mph, which locals say is too high.

Police said the driver of the Chevy Malibu was a 22 year-old female. They confiscated her phone to determine if she was using it at the time of the crash, WLWT reported.

It’s unclear why the driver in this accident lost control, but it wouldn’t be surprising if she was using her cell phone at the time of the crash.
