Morocco coach crash: At least 40 people including 14 children killed after head-on smash with lorry

The coach was packed with youngsters aged between 10 and 14 who were returning from a sports competition - a Moroccan athlete was also on board


Fourteen child athletes were among at least 40 people killed during a head-on collision between a coach and truck in Morocco today.

The bus fell into a ravine, and then burst into flames, according to local health minister Mohamed Azzaz, who said a handful of survivors were fighting for their lives in hospital.

A party of boys and girls aged between 10 and 14 who were on their way home from a schools athletics championships in Bouznika, and all are feared dead.



Also among the victims was Hassan Issengar, a 43-year-old athlete well known in Morocco. He was thought to be in the same party as the children.
